The tale of our search for an apartment aka there and back again and again and again and again
The main streets of strathfield are no longer unfamiliar territory to my aunty. she could drive them in her sleep now. 🙂
i’d like to say a big thanks to my aunty liesel for driving us around strathfield a billion times (and also two trips to ashfield) on saturday. my dad would have chucked the biggest dummy spit if asked to do the same – you rox0r!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
when we met up at strathfield me and the cous’ rocked into a few real estate agents and the cous’ layed down the law on what we wanted and how much we were willing to pay. she was very impressive. if i ever need a stellar contract negotiated she’ll be my negotiator!!!!!!
the first place was somewhat scary…walking up the stairs to the apartment the overwheling smell of curry greeted us. the place was kinda dark and dingy but i wont complain about how it looked because there were still people living there, packing to move out. but i was the scared!
next was a bit of an improvement but the mums were not excited.
did we look at any others here girls? anyways around 12 we stopped – went to strathfield plaza so people could go to the loo, then we went to a few more real estate agents – i think this is when we popped up to this place that was less than a minutes walk from the real estate agent and elena was all – ITS TOO SMALL and i was all – its not THAT bad apart from being on the ground floor (EEK!!!). then went to this yummy place for lunch. it was the cool! it had a standard for-the-wusses chinese restaurant menu but then it had all this other weird and wonderful stuff so we gave it a burl and it was the good!!!!! yummy!!!!!!!!! lets go back again!
then we went to this place near the train station that was the best place yet! it was really cute – and people were living there still but were moving soon….there were about 20 asian girls in there i swear to god!!!!! well it seemed like it! maybe it was closer to ten – but in that tiny place it looked like more!
mum had to go home at this point so it was just me, the cous’ and the aunty. then we went to an open inspection and the place was great – the rooms were fairly big and it had a good sized kitchen and living/dining room. only scary aspect was the tres dorky chandelier things! other than that, it was all good. we started basing our opinions off that.
we went to another inspection with the same real estate but they never showed so we stopped at strathfield plaza AGAIN because me and the cous’ needed to go (arent you enjoying all the details?).
we then rocked over to another place and there were about 3 other couples looking at it but most of them ended up scampering because the lady from the real estate (our mate gina) was running late. the place was okay but wasnt aas good as freaky chandelier place. same as the next one. was it a bit cruddier mena? i forget now -its been a couple of weeks.
gina decided to show us this place in ashfiled because it was similar to another one we were interested in in strathfield but was available to be view yet. so she said if we didnt like the ashfiled one we wouldnt like the other one. WELL…we LURVED the ashfield place. so much that the only reason we were still considering chandelier city was because strathfield is on a better train line for both of us (we work in north sydney and study in penrith). so we put an application in for the chandelier place but didnt get it, but also gave gina a weeks rent to reserve the place so as soon as we heard we didnt have the other place we said WE’LL TAKE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!!!!! ITS SOOOOOOO CUTE!!!!!!!!!!!! i am gonna live in the cutest apartment!!!! ^-^
i’ll be sure to de-cute it promptly!
