The Fixer

So before I went RA-mad I was (ok i still adore him but stupid RA has become the focus of my obsessionistic ways) going batty over Elliot Cowan. At the moment he is a guest star in season 2 of a show called the Fixer on ITV in the UK.
Before the season started I decided to download season 1 to see what it was like.

I’ve been told the first season hasnt aired outside the UK…dunno if thats true, but below ARE spoilers for season 1. You have been warned!

The main character John Mercer, who used to be in special forces or some such, is in jail for killing his aunt and uncle. You find out a bit later that his uncle had sexually abused his sister and his aunt hadnt stepped in so he was a tad pissed. ANYWAYS.

He gets released from jail early by Lenny Douglas so he can put him to work as an assassin within a lil nefarious group that is funded by the government to take out dodgy people.
The other members of the group are Calum – who is handy at sourcing the weapons John needs, breaking into places and lots of other lil jobs – and who John met in prison and doesnt exactly like, and Rose – an ex-cop who uses her pretty face/hot bod to get close to male targets.

I TOTALLY LOVE CALUM! He is such a dork. Lenny makes John and him live together and of course John is all broody-loner boy but Calum helps out there and he’s smiling a bit more by the last ep of season 1.

In the first ep Rose is used by Lenny because they can tell John isnt happy about the situation and is gonna do a runner, so she meets him at a bar and they go off and do the nasty. He is right pissed when he finds out she works for Lenny too. But even though she has to act the whore for Lennys jobs you can tell she actually LIKES our John, and he has a total boner for her too! I LOVE IT!!!!!
But Calum is the best part for teh show for me! I forget which ep it is but Calum totally teases John about the situation with him and Rose. Its so funny!

Oh and it was so funny when I started watching teh first ep…I was 3 mins in before my brain clicked that the guy who plays John was the guy who played St John Rivers in Jane Eyre.
I gotta say he looks better in modern garb. 😀
Though i do keep waiting for him to go ‘I love Rosamund Oliver wildly!’

I gotta stop watching these series repeatedly. They get in my brain….like when I watched the Tenant of Wildfell Hall with Tara Fitgerald and Toby Stephens….i kept waiting for her to go ‘Say something UNNATURAL CHILD!’ or start screeching ‘WHERES JOHN????’. Too much Jane Eyre people!!!!!!!

ANYWAYS I think its currently up to episode 5 of season 2. In the first season I really wanted to hurt Lenny and I wrote on livejournal that supposedly Elliots character “is gonna be a right prat. If i hate him more than Lenny then he will have done a good job.”
Well done my lovely. You win the prize!!! But me and the fellow Elliot fangirls – all we can do is go “wow – he’s awesome! look how much we hate him!” or we spend time commenting on how it looks like they have aged him up for the role….or discussing the fetching tan coat he wears. 😀

re the actual series…..Johns driving me nuts coz he really mellowed out in the end of season one but now he is like a ticking bomb ready to go off. AND he is being unpleasant to Calum when they had reached a good place last season. YOU BE NICE TO MY CALUM JOHN!!!!!

There was one really funny moment with Calum and Lenny in one episode. Calum is laying on the couch listening to music with some headphones on and he is singing along or something and Lenny is watching him….and this is the guy who forced John to live with Calum…but he says something about making John live with Calum really was a cruel and unusual punishment. I totally lost it!
But I still love Calum!!!!
And John and Rose just need to shag again and get it over with!

But yeah – I think I enjoyed season 1 more but I will wait to pass judgement after I have seen all of season 2. Its definately worth watching though!!
