I have been pretty damn grouchy lately. Everything seems shithouse and I dont have any motivation for anything. I fucking hate that, but anyways USUALLY when I feel like this it means I shall shortly acquire a new obsession. Still waiting for it to appear.
In the meantime my brain has latched onto that Wired story i linked to in April. I have read it lots of times online and even bought the damn issue (lols). Then I was like ‘damn that is interesting i need more info!’ so i have checked out almost every page on the Titan website, have looked up their parent companies site and found out some fascinating yet totally useless to me info about what steps to take if you wish to work at sea. I have looked at lots of different sites about shipping and wikipedia has been most helpful in explaining shipping terms I was clueless about.
And hey – did you guys know piracy still happens in this day and age? Seems to be mostly near third world areas that probably need the shipping industry badly to either bring in stuff they need or export whatever commodities these poor countries are able to sell to make some money.
This page has lots of info and I found some other interesting stuff on their site about other salvage jobs and sea accidents (some of the comments on this one cracked me up good! my fave accompanied this picture:
and their comment was “M/V Norwegian Dream At Port of Dover Has Involuntarily Become A Container Vessel”…mwahahahahaaaa. okay it wouldnt be funny if you were on or owned the boats bad daaaamn!)
But dear god the people who run that site – totally need to redo their site design…its PAINFUL and like 10 years out of date!
Anyways my few loyal readers may not care but what the hell – check out the stuff I have been browsing….I DONT KNOW WHY!!!
A page describing MANY of Titans past successs. Some of them have links to pages with pictures but if you wanna skip the history page and gawk at images go straight to the gallery.
In the next few months some guys from Titan are gonna be working at pulling a wreck called the New Carissa off a beach in Oregon using their jack-up barges and I assume some of their Titan pullers and lots of cleverness. Here is a news clip about it. I hope they succeed. Hey people you should have hired these guys in the first place….I mean WHO was the bright spark who said ‘hey lets ignite the fuel in the ship to burn it up?’ I mean seriously were they on crack?
Anyways, so yeah – do I need a real obsession or WHAT?
I am hoping when it comes along it is not a costly one like my last one. I am trying to save lots of money as quick as I can.
ANYWAYS. If anyone who works in the salvage business drops by (doubtful) feel free to say yo – I totally admire what you guys do….I will try not to geekout at you. 😀
