In Australia we have this totally freakish Christian right-wing fuck who spouts extreme bullshit every once in a while. His latest load of crap is that he thinks that the chador that Muslim women wear should be banned because they could conceal weapons. The man is truly fucked.

His crap doesnt even make sense:

Mr Nile said terrorist leader Osama bin Laden was manipulating Muslims who wore the chador to commit terrorist acts.

“They’re the people that bin Laden is manipulating and using in his terrorist movement,” he said.

“It’s a committed fanatic who’s being used by bin Laden.”

For Muslim women who now feel vilified for wearing a chador in public: “I’d encourage them to stop wearing it. That’s the whole point, they don’t have to wear it.”

“I’m not frightened of Muslims, I’m not trying to start a war with Muslims.

“I’m just saying that bin Laden is using a small percentage of fanatical Muslims and they’re the ones that are wearing the chador,” Mr Nile said.

Does he even know anything about Al Queda and the Taliban?
They oppress women, not ask them to do the fighting.
If men wore the chador then his comments might make sense.

Our government is doing a lacklustre job of refuting the comments too.
I was just reading this article which had info about our Prime Minister being his total loser self and not giving an opinion either way. But it also had more crap from good ol’ Fred –

Mr Nile stressed yesterday it was only the chador he was concerned about, because of its supposed potential use by terrorists. However, two weeks ago he called for an inquiry into the impact of female Muslim students wearing the hijab, a head scarf, in state schools, suggesting it should be banned in the interests of “discouraging divisiveness and promoting unity and tolerence”.

Yay – our state Premier has some brain cells!

The Premier, Bob Carr, said Mr Nile’s comments risked creating a breeding ground for extremism.
“We’ve got a lot of loyal Australians … who happen to be of the Islamic faith, and there should be no finger-pointing or vilification or stereotyping of them as we go through this difficult period,” he said

On the SMH website they also have a link to an article from September about how young Australian Muslim women are taking to wearing the hijab since Sept 11, rather than doing the opposite. I like that. I am sure this isnt what they are thinking but it appeals to me rebellious side – its sort of a subtle ‘fuck you’ to the arsehole bigots out there. ^-^
