Manifest 2002

i bought
– gravitation sound story 1
– gravitation vocal collection
– gravitation art book
– gravitation letter set (heehee – i promise thats the last gravi item i got)
– ff8 laguna loire figurine (same kind as my Irvine kinneas – they did have a different sort that was bigger and really cool but he was $50)
– ff8 seifer almasy figurine (i also wanted Quistis but the didnt have any – BOOHOO!)
– small chobits poster with chi and sumomo
– small angelic layer poster with misaki and hikaru
– small ff10 poster of Rikku

i could have bought more though – i didnt even go near the Madman table (i probably would have only bought dvds if i had) and i refrained from going nuts and buying all the gackt/malice mizer books at the Tamarket table.
speaking of Tamarket – the girl who was working at the table (in snazzy cosplay no less) i asked her if they had any Gravi stuff and she mentioned a few things had already gone and the few things they still had (like the book and the letter set which i ended up buying the next day) and then i asked her how much this huge Chi pillow that they had at the back was. it was HUGE. if you stood it upright i think it would at least come to my shoulder and i am 5’6. i said ‘i dont want it buy how much is it?’ and she said $300+. i told her how i had bought the Sumomo pillow and she said “are you rebecca jordan?” ARGH!!!! she knew who i was!!! is my weird tastes that obvious – or am i the only one who has bought one??? i am worried now….. >-< also me, my friend Craig, the guy he was doing a panel with – Brad, the guy who did the manga drawing panel (sorry – i forgot your name *hangs head in shame….*) and one of the volunteers (…was his name Lewis or something – damn my brain!!) went in the trivia contest on saturday nite and apart from contributing some half assed answers that may have got us half a point on two occasions i SUCKED!!!!!!!!!
still – our team won the contest!!!!! ^-^
we got a video each (woo – not. i grabbed a Ranma 1/2 because i have never seen it) and a double pass to some melbourne cinema. i gave my pass to one of the other guys so he got two.

anime stuff i got to see (going on the names in the booklet)
saturday
– while the set up the registration desk they put on a mock documentary called ‘this is Otakudom‘ was very funny!
– most of Slayers Premium
– most of Visons of Escaflowne: a Girl in Gaea
– Fruits Basket ep 1 & 2 (very cute – i love it!)
– aussie dvd launch of Evangelion Death & Rebirth

sunday (mostly went to panels and stuff)
– Angelic layer ep 1 & 2 (hehehe – so cute)
– Sakura Taisen movie

– Manga Drawing panel
– Fanfiction panel
– most of the Anime Travel panel
– Anime History panel (Craig and Brad ran this panel)
– half of the Great Debate – “That a giant robot is better than a good romance” very amusing. including girl-on-girl action that gave the boys a nice thrill ^-~
– trivia contest (i have to say it again – we WON. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks guys!!)
– and i stayed for the band/anime karaoke of course!

the band was cooool!!! come to sydney guys!!!! come to my house and entertain me! YAY! ^-^ did i mention that Brad (who was in the WINNING TRIVIA TEAM with me) was in the band? excellent. ^-~
anyhoo – some peeps did karaoke of Gackt songs! two girls did Vanilla and one girl did Mirror. also the bands final song was U+K. EXCELLENT!!

i didnt get dads digital camera and i didnt buy a disposable one till saturday nite so i only got some photos on sunday which i will put up as soon as i finish of the film and get it developed (if they turn out okay).

some comments on the cosplayers
WOW. One of the best (and actually won for best costume on saturday) was a girl who dressed up as Freya from ff9. awesome.
i saw at least 3 Yunas from ffx. i saw 2 on saturday and 2 on sunday but i am pretty sure that one girl was Yuna on both days. but all the Yuna’s were fantastic.
there were two girls who did Misaki and her friend from Angelic Layer that were very cute. there were 2 Ash’s from Pokemon – one on each day. scary stuff!
there were lots of people from things i havent seen yet but they were all damn impressive. there were a lot of Sailor Scouts around. oh – Sunday – this guy dressed up as the robot girl from To Heart (havent actually seen To Heart but i looked stuff up about it ages ago when Piro from Megatokyo mentioned it in one of his posts) – was amusing. ooh – and on saturday there was a girl who came as K from Gravitation. champion! i cheered a lot when she got up. ^-^

hmm – i am not sure if i should mention the scariest thing i saw at Manifest. it happened to be one individual on multiple occasions. maybe its safer if i only write about elsewhere. all i can say is that some people should consider gagging and generally controlling themselves in public when they go to such occasions as being a fellow otaku will not stop people from thinking you are freak. amongst the other things – screaming things tourette’s syndrome-style in the middle of an episode is not appreciated. especially by those sitting just behind you. ^-^
