i bought a not too expensive book to teach myself japanese. when i got home and started reading a bit of it the introduction started waffling about some cassette you could get to accompany the book, but also stated you could get along without it. and then every example of sentences or where they try and explain some pronounciation they say ‘listen to the tape….’ which I DONT HAVE!!! why dont they sell the tape with the book? why wasnt there a sticker or something on the front saying its a good idea to buy the tape that goes with it. there wasnt even a tape for sale near the stupid book in the bookshop. i am getting poopy. and i’d like to just say i am sure japanese people would laugh there arses off listening to me trying to pronouce stuff right. i have noticed if i use this wacky high pitched voice the way i say stuff sounds better……most odd.
