i am not a queenslander so it isnt such a big deal to me, But i want to have a whine about some politics today so i am gonna have a whack at the whole queensland going to the polls soon thing.

for the last few weeks the premier (kind of equivelant to a governor in the US i think) has been rocking around the state talking to the people and asking them about the who voting rorts scandal. it was obvious to anyone with half a brain that he was drumming up support for his own party. some people like to meet the people they may vote for – gives them a warm fuzzy feeling, so Beattie has had a couple of weeks jump on his opponents on the election campaign. what an arsehole!

i vote Labor because i refuse to vote for the Liberals and i dont think any other party has enough power to really do anything – though i am tempted to vote for the Democrats in the Senate at Federal elections sometimes….
but i think if i was in queensland i would NOT vote Labor just because of this shit – i wouldnt care about the voting rorts – jumping the gun on your opponents and then after a few weeks of meet-and-greeting the peeps you then go and call an election that is only a few short weeks away……man that pisses me off! I still wouldnt vote Liberal though….

the guy who runs for the Liberals Federal seat where I live – i think his name is Kerry Bartlett – when he was trying to get in the first time he was doing a door to door knock and meet the people thing and when he showed up i was the only one home….i forget if i was at uni or just on the dole at the time….anyways he was trying to convince me that the Liberals were good and i told him that sorry – i was a commited Labor voter. and he asked me why. and i remember saying something like i agree with their ideas more than the liberals…i wasnt exactly ready to sit and clearly express my political views with someone i didnt know – i am a tad on the shy side with people i dont know. and even though i told him i was voting Labor i was also going to protests and stuff with my best friend at the time who was a member of Resistance – the Democratic Socialist Partys youth organisation.
i think if i could have spoken with some sense instead of being flustered he would have either run a mile or made a note of my evil political affiliations. hehehehe

anyways – i also feel like whining about the wackiness of americans who can vote but dont. what sort of idiotic crap is that? and if people do that in other countries too – well i think you are all nuts. i hate hearing crap like ‘it wont make any difference’ or ‘i dont like any of the people running’ or any of that shit. you choose the ones you agree with the idealogy of most and vote for them. so they might do a few things that piss you off while they are in power – you know the other guys will do heaps worse – should i start ranting about the wonderfulness of the GST again?

anyways – i want to whine again about the shittiness of the state of the Labor party – i cant believe they have fooled themselves into believing they are going to win the next federal election with Kim Beazley in power……it’s not gonna happen – mr fishy-lips is so more likely to win. and that is just so bloody tragic! BRING BACK PAUL KEATING!!!!!!!!! he was good for a laugh!
