I have been using this blog to vent my annoyance with Australian media. politics, whatever of late. I think I have two reasons for this.
1) When I whinge to people verbally I usually can’t construct sensible arguments because I get so pissed off, and I lose my train of thought, but when I write it down I can go back and edit where it doesn’t make sense before I share it with folks.
2) When I do rant most people just tune out anyways and it’s nice to know that a few people are actually paying attention to my ranting. 🙂
Now I am gonna talk a bit about the WEF protests down in Melbourne and the crap the media is reporting and the government reaction and what not.
First off this article mentions some of the comments that have pissed me off. My favourite (funny – does that look like sarcasm to you too? hmm) is the comment that protesting is ‘un-Australian’. What a crock of shit. Ever heard of the Eureka Stockade you turds?
This is rather amusing.
Anyways – I think the polllies are using the term un-Australian to rally support of the older generation (60+) and conservatives. It’s like when the turds on A Current Affair use the term ‘little aussie battler’ – that term makes me want to puke.
Anyways, I think the media hype in the last few weeks has made the whole thing worse. The Victorian govt has gone loco and decided ‘lets send in the troops’, and I think any violence that has occured can be blamed on the police – though I bet they would deny it. I don’t trust the Australian media to be impartial at all when it comes to things like this – most of our media is owned by money-grubbing corporations anyways (hello Newscorp and PBL). And our journalists (tv and newspaper) are the biggest frigging twits I have ever seen. I think they all go to the same ‘lets sounds as stupid as we can’ school of journalism. (Though most of the folks on ABC and SBS are pretty good).
Ooh – and Bill Gates “is the man who foresaw years ago a day when every home and desktop would boast a personal computer, and that that day is not so very far off now” – oh yes – and he will make it true by providing every family in the third world with a computer as well will he? Australian journalists – please get a brain!
Anyways – I say good on you protesters.
